Curtis-McKinley Roofing (CMK) was founded in November 1986 by Terry McKinley and Robert Curtis. They built a small office and sheet metal shop in Northeast Longview, where the company is still located to this day. With less than 10 employees and through hard work and perseverance, they became known as a premier commercial roofing company in east Texas.
After Mr. Curtis retired in 1990, Terry became the sole owner of the company. The business grew rapidly through the 1990’s and 2000’s as new customers were made in the Governmental, medical and public school sectors. The original office space and shop were expanded in 1994 and again in 2005. Bob Schwartz joined the company as general manager in 1995 to help Terry grow the business. The employee count grew from less than 10 employees at the beginning to over 70 by the mid-2000’s.
Terry’s three sons (David, Anthony and Joseph) all worked for the company at various times through adolescence as he taught them valuable lessons in the roofing business, and in the value of hard work. All three sons returned to work with him in different capacities after completing their education. Terry passed away in August 2013 after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. His wishes were that his sons would carry on his legacy by maintaining the business and continuing to provide the level of service that our customers expect. That is our driving principle behind our dedication to excellence.
